Moisture in Head Lamp

I have changed both sides of main beam bulbs the day before yesterday,turn my wheel to one side,then open plastic cover to replace to Philips X bulbs.
Tonight, I found lots of moisture in right head lamp and it is rainly. Is it my fault that I have not fully closed cover? But left side is ok. Or the head lamp not sealed good?

How to check if it is by my fault or by itself?
Only one side got miusture,it seems my fault. But I used the same way to change both sides.
I have no idea
 
I would take the rear covers off again and clean around the rubber seal. It's all too easy to get dirt in there and break the seal. Also ensure it's correctly seated and the retainer spring is over both clips.

If it's just a one off leak it will soon dry out with the lights on a few times.

On my roadster, I changed the bulbs to Silverstars and I got moisture in the left side from then on, until I sold the car and got the MC. I just lived with it, as it only seemed to happen when it rained (washing didn't seem to bother it), and it always cleared up within a day or so. I had the dealer check and they saw nothing wrong with the covers and had no explanation. Some people have had the entire lens replaced under warranty.

Just checked it again, I found that I have failed to fully close the plastic cover which near the wheel.
whats the best way to make it dry? coz water all around

1) Best but takes too long is to remove the unit and dry it in a warm place
2) remove the cover and blow air through with a hairdryer or similar which may remove the majority
3) run the lights with the cover off for a few minutes to let the heat of the bulb dry it
4) Do nothing and it will dry itself in time

I hope you do not have so much as to leave run marks from condensation on the inner lens or there is nothing you can do

Obviously do not go near the rear of the light if they are xenon and switched on!!!!
 
The day before yesterday, I took off the bulb and found water level inside was nearly 1cm deep.It took me 2 hours dried all the head lamp around. fully closed the plastic cover. It seems ok yesterday.
Unlucky,its rainy today and lamp got moisture. sealed problem?
 
To get that amount of water in you would need a serious breach of the lens to body seal or crack in the case and having worked on many Z4 lamps knowing the quality of the seal it seems highly unlikely.

I would therefore be back to looking at the cover you removed and checking it's seated. Is the rubber gasket in place, etc.

Of course with that much water to start with I doubt you truly dried it and so on a rainy morning it's likely to condense remaining water on the lens.

I am going to take some photos. i think it should be sealed problem. Coz it seems the rubber gasket not exactly in place by compare with my left headlamp.
How this happen ? I used the same way to change bulds for both sides.

No idea what went wrong, but I have a box full of spare seals if you need one.

Its sunny today, so it looks like a bit better.

PS: I found one of Z4 headlamp. its face lift one and can directly fix to my 54-reg z4? the pic as follow

Your headlight looks in a bad way. IMHO that light will be scrap as even if you dry it out tyhere will be highly visible run lines fromt he minerals and dirt out of the condenstation. I purchased a scrpa one in a similar state for a project.

I saw the one on Ebay too and if you can wait to find anohter, or buy one from a dealers it would make a good upgrade

normally,how much the face lift one from dealer? 800pounds per pair(Not Xneon)?
the one Ive attached can be directly fix to my car?
 
Looks in a pretty bad way.

The facelift light you have shown won't work, plus it will look odd with one clear and one amber indicator.
 
If it is a facelift unit (and I'm not sure fromt he poor photograph) as Mike says it will not work due to different wiring. A pair of prefacelift with clear indicators will be around the £700 mark.
