Seems a bit of a pointless gimmick to me to be honest. (Just an old farts opinion
)But then, mine is stuck permanently open anyway and I'm quite happy with that.
I can't see the point in it. The valve's primary function is to make the exhaust quieter on first 30 seconds on start-up when the engine revs faster and fuel is enriched to get the Cats to work efficiently as soon as possible. After this initial period the flap opens, why would you want to make an already quiet exhaust quieter on normal driving?

I don’t think the flaps opened constantly after warm-up but at higher revs/throttle openings, mines permanently open & produces more sound than it used to. :?

Ps, we’re at cross purposes here, the 35i/35is models use a different form of exhaust flap control to the 20i range
