Mods You Regret

The CCFL angel eyes... a hassle to install, not well sealed afterwards and 1 of the rings just failed... I'll have to start over with leds...

RS6 style seats.!!!!! Kept you firmly in place but the shape didn't work with the interior lines of the car. Oh and did I mention sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo bloody uncomfortable.

£550 down the toilet

Wondering if I regret installing the h&r kit on mine. A lot of people on here said they improved/didn't reduce ride quality but the definitely do. Although I do think the pros outweigh the cons but was disappointed with the ride quality.

I really regret modifying my family to include small children. They haven't arrived yet but the side effects include switching out my Z for a 320d touring snore-o-wagon spec.

Wish I hadn't painted my grill gloss black, they look awesome but chip like mad. My OCD has me redoing them every year.

Spray and refit
Orrrr
Plastidip then use their gloss - Super resilient to scuffs, chips and peeling

I have mine matt and found a technique for a perfect finish.

Takes a day to spray properly and left for a day to cure/dry/seal

Basically multiple coats with the can 20-30cm away never close so it doesn't run

AUX in - only because I then replaced it with a USA Spec PA12-BMW-DSP, which allows me to put the iPod in the trunk, and control it from the buttons on the steering wheel. Plus I can feed in satellite radio.
On the other hand, by installing the AUX in, I learned to remove the center vents!

I would actually like the aux in :-)

And the irony of it that an ebay vendor using your picture for 'their' gloss black kidneys!

I once tried to film-tint the rear lights on a pre-facelift I owned. Wanted all red roundals but looked weird and I missed the orange centre circles, so changed them back after a day.

It may look better if you match up the other side Dan ! :?
I Cant see it catching on much...

lol will have to park outside the guys house so he can reverse into it again! Might be getting a SLK hire car so will have to leave the forum for a few days :D

Oh dear! On Sunday you were complaining about the grief you got driving the Zed, this just thames it to a whole new level! Doesn't get more 'Haridresser' than an SLK!
lol may see if the CLK is available! Or could have a Z4 but fancy a change :driving:

So really not major regrets so far which is a good thing.
My regret is buying a £200 add on alpine unit
Stuffing up my seat, wasting money on upholster fabric estimated £300 lost as I had to get a new one
(Dont try and customise your seat yourself)

Plastidipping my steering wheel trim. Partly because it really didn't last on a daily driver, but mainly because it exposed my significant lack of DIY/craft/painting skills for all to see

Pebble dash effect :

After just a few weeks :

So I had them sprayed by someone who had half a clue about painting, much better :

Looking at the mileage on that last pic, they lasted a good 20k miles as a daily - they now need re-done but it will be a lot simpler for the new owner.

In a weird way I also regret buying 224s from srhutch for my last car - they looked great but deciding to trade up just 6 weeks later meant I had spent £700 on wheels and tyres only to sell the car... And they were in better condition than the ones on the new car :headbang:

Are you saying that PVR can't park?
You should have made a sneaky swap before selling your other Zed...

They're not curbed, so his parking is fine, but there are some stone chips - mainly the fronts as PVR kept forcing BMW to give him new rears as a result of the same issue... Crap OEM paint job, not his fault. The fronts weren't quite bad enough for them to replace last time he asked them to replace them :x

And no, I couldn't - quite apart from having to swap tyres too, my old one went the day before I collected the new one... And I'd never be that dishonest :!:
