Is there a law forbidding smiling during a photoshoot? :idunno:

Yeah, i'm not a fan is big grins in model shoots, but these girls have a positively "pissed off" expression. Get them to flash some flirty expressions or such like, know what I mean? ;)

I agree.. The problem is, with every single girl thats weve done, its their first photoshoot. Facial expressions come with experience. This is more just about getting them to look half decent with just an hour in the studio. They are nervous as hell and its best just get them doing something they feel comfortable with to start off with. As soon as an experienced model comes in its a whole different ball game.

You just need someone dressed as Elmo to go around tickling them - well it works for me.

I don't know why it is but i always feel i look better on a shoot when i don't smile, and many other girls agree.
Just to compare, i much prefer my 'pissed off expression' :

A smile can look good on headshots, but when it come's to lingerie/glamour i think it's moodiness that looks best:

But i'm getting to the point now where i can do many expressions to suit the style of images, like this kind of thing, definitley requires the pissed off look:

But then this kind of thing requires the cheekiness/flirtiness:

Just my little input from a pissed off looking model :P But does the photographer agree, or would you prefer a smile more often?

Where's your "you've just scratched my car you pikey b'stard and I'm going to rip you a new one" pose :P

Lucy Ive yet to meet a model thats like their smiling expression. We have the photos coming up on screen as they are taken so we tend to get some feedback from the models for the first few shots. The problem is, because our photos are just for their own personal use, they need to like themselves on the photos so ifs its the "pissed off" look they prefer then thats fine by me.

I agree if it was for advertising or editorial work, but the girls want photos of themselves looking their best.

BTW the model knows Ive posted her pics up here I wouldnt go posting them around random forums without asking.
