Looking for a 2003-2006 manual Z4 and was wondering if anyone had done any real comparisons on running costs between 2.0/2.2/2.5 and 3.0

i.e. To insure / Tax /Fuel costs

It seems to me that all the engines are good and some of the economy/performance quopted figs are not that different . But are they in the "real world" ??

My mileage should be low so fuel differences likley to be narginal.

Just interested in views

Thanks

Probably most my answers are in the available statistics- but just wondered if anyone has upgraded from say a 2.2 to 3 Litre and what you thought of the bigger engine. Torn between keeping costs down and ...will I regret not going all out for a 3.0???

I remember when i was quoted on a limited mileage policy the difference between 2.0 and 3.0 was about 80 quid a year.

At the time 04/05 3.0 SEs were about the same price as the post face lift 2.0s .

I opted for a 3.0SE at the time ( 14-15 months ago) ... I do less than 5k a year in the Zed so fuel wasn't something i looked into.

When i first came on this site I planned to buy a 2.0 but this forum convinced me into a 3.0 for the straight 6 roar.... not looked back since .

My first posts on here similar questions to yours...

Thanks Zermatt

Yes I am edging for the 3.0 S E to use alongside my X5 . Admiral seems to offer a reasonable multicar policy which will likley move me away from Direet Line (even though I am an ex Group pensioner!)
9 yrs no claims Direct line want £817 (no No claims mirroring for 2nd vehicle) Admiral £454 200 5 3.0 or £326 for a 2.5 2003 as an example.

Also coincidentally about 10 yrs ago I had a BR Green MX5 and loved the top down-great fun-hence why the Z4 on radar (Boxter was there but think ongoing costs much higher thna Z4-hopefully not proved wrong and don't want another MX5)
