1. Hood
Is it a direct fit?
Anyone done it?
How much does it cost?
Is it aluminum and only OEM or aftermarket guys make them also?

2. Orange side markets in headlights on pre facelift cars - can they be taken out easily or new headlight assembly required (ie pointless)?

Just curious if anyone tried this, can't see in search... :?

Bonnet is a direct swap - been done before and IIRC the price is around £900 from BMW. Alluminium and never seen an aftermarket version.

Lights cannot be opened. Do a search and you'll see many threads. Cost is £350 each halogen £750 each xenon

Yup, figured as much damn. I'm not happy that BMW thought we should get the american headlights here. but i guess since Z4 is made in US (right?) it makes sense why they wouldn't produce proper headlights for europe with clean look.

All Z4's produced before 05\06 had orange indicators regardless of where they where going in the world,

do you know why some headlights are silver inside while others are black? Is it also a facelift issues, or only bixenons or something like that?

I've been told by dealer that pre facelift with black housing, orange indicators has one lens that is used as bixenon (half strength low beams and full for high beams) while second set of lights is used as blinking/flashing lights - they looked like halogen's to me.

Hood/bonnet is not a direct swap. Hatches will need to be modified / relocated.

damn bmw. they sure like to make things hard  I wonder if it's just easier to have some body shop to fabricate the creases on the existing hood. :D

As far as I know the black inner is simply used on the lower engine models, silver on the 3l and ///M. There is no correlation between housing colour and beam.

All prefacelift xenons are bi xenon using a shutter for changing from dipped to main (nothing to do with full strength) Inner is a main and 'flash to pass'.

Comments relate to UK as each market can have local variations.

GP- good point on the bonnet catches

mstyle have the m bonnet and fit it to any model. £850 sprayed and fitted iirc.

CJ, my beigbour has Z3 3.0i pre facelift - it has black housings, bixenons.

Z3??

My comments relate to the UK market. All 3.0 and above came with silver housings. Of course people retrofit different to complement changes they make to the car. All Z4 are bi xenon (no single xenon fitted).

sorry, just checked and i made a mistake... it's £850 just for the bonnet... add another £250 for spraying and fitting.
