Mod 2.5i or Upgrade to Z4M

Unfortunally its MS45 based ecu, so FI isn´t a cheap option. If it would be based on MS43, you could have M power figures for as low as 2000€, maybe even less if you have some mechanical skills.

I still haven´t gotten my fingers on a FI tune for MS45, if theres anyone out there who wants me to have a look at it, [email protected] :driving:

Like I said I enjoy working on cars so I'm never bothered about doing the work myself, however as gwatson said.

Not to mention the hassle of custom tunes, if/when it goes wrong waiting for parts

Main problem is the hassle of having custom parts I know they go wrong on a M as well but it's a lot less likely than if I do the work myself, besides that I wouldn't have the extra's the M does I'd only have the power, i've been looking at M's for a couple of weeks now and honestly the more I look at them the dafter I feel for asking this question.

If you want something reliably fast it will always be cheaper and easier to buy it out of the box.

If you want a challenge or there is no out of the box example sure go and mod it.... In a couple of years you'll look back and either loved it or regret it!

Madness to try and recreate an M when BMW with their deep pockets for r&d have done it for you!!

Agreed

Now, if you were taking a 35is and supercharging it then that would be a project worthy of the ££££s required, given that there is no M version. Actually, as a complete aside, can you 'charge a 35is ? I'm sure I've seen a thread on it...

WoW can you imagine how that would take off  a remapped 3.5Is is heading towards the mid 4,s , add a supercharger & you'd have something that moved like a epileptic ferret

Now the only thing I need to decide is whether to get a Roadster or a Coupe :?

Now that really IS a stupid question :poke:

haha wild guess you're a roadster :P I really don't know I actually prefer the coupe look more but still... roadster... sun hmmmmmmmm 8)

Given the choice I'd always go roadster but if you do fancy a coupe then you'll have to find another £1500/2000 in your piggy bank. The consolation is at least you'll get a chunk of that back when you sell ( in many years time).

I like the look of both but I do prefer the coupe so I'll have to see when the time comes to buying one, and yes many many years time :D I must admit I bought the zed with the intention of selling it after a year and moving onto a 5 door but honestly now I have one it will take a little longer than a year to persuade me onto something else.

Coupé is a better drive and a better looking car. Or you can burn your head and feel uncomfortable in traffic / heat in the roadster :P

Ahh but you get the full effect of what you paid your money for when the roof's down & you open it up  even with your windows down & head out of the window you can only dream what it really sounds like :P

Says someone who's never driven the roadster. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and if you've not driven the roadster a decent amount to be able to compare, your first statement is purely theoretical. And of course it depends on your definition of 'better'
