Depending if you've got points already, I would plead guilty by post if you have that option and accept the points and fine. You probably won't have to attend (unless they are considering banning you which would be unlikely). Likely 6 points and a fine I imagine. I wouldn't bother trying to use the situation as mitigation as it won't wash with a magistrate.

I have 0 points, its not often I go above the speed limit.
I wasn't trying to make an excuse, I accept I was excessive in my speed.
Just explaining the reason why

in hindsight, I should of took the risk of him going into the back of me... could of done with getting my rear end resprayed anyway.

Yes I'm simply saying I wouldn't bother going to court if you don't have to and use that as a defense as it will be a waste of time.

I'll never understand why people post details of speeding convictions on open forums, you'll always get a load of flack regardless of the circumstances.

"irony is I had set my cruise control to 40mph and was tooting along until that dickhead shot up behind me "

Is that legal whilst driving :D and are you sure it wasn't that stuff Malcolm used to use

I agree with DR-Z, I think you were racing him!

You quote in your first post "Windows and doors on the back were shut and I was approaching.
Do the windows or door need to be open to get a reading?"

This doesn't sound like some being harassed from behind and worrying about his safety.

I had already moved over to the left hand lane and slowing down, I seen the mobile camera unit ahead and I could of slammed my brakes on to slow down but that may have endangered road users behind me.

do not question my integrity.
think what you like, I haven't lied or edited the truth.

I have not posted on here to be accused of racing so if you haven't anything constructive or helpful to say, f**k off back to where you came from.
trolls passing judgement on events they have little insight into.

Sounds like I was racing him?
Asshole, don't insult me like that.
No need to be nasty. I hope you get the book thrown at you, with an attitude like that. :headbang:

Why were you in the fast lane? Tbf I'd have probably sped up too, but don't say you thought he'd go in to the back of you as you can't really believe that? If someones up your arse, you slow down - they slow down!
hope they don't get you though mate, hate the w*****s!

Sorry, I was unaware my version of what happened was open to debate...least I forget you were there to witness it right?
You basically called me a liar and said I was racing some old dude in the car behind. :wkr:
I posted on here for advice on if the mobile unit was operational at the time, not to be called a liar and judged by you. :wkr:

I don't have time for Ignorant judgmental people like yourself, it is not I with the bad attitude towards others. world would be a much better place without people passing judgement on things they know little of . :wkr:

Just don't bother slick, some will say you're lying about it and you were really racing against Lewis Hamilton past a school and elderly home.

nightyard, I don't think it is a case of what is morally right or wrong what happens in traffic incidents, more a case that the law is very rigid in its application of the rules without reason or exception.

There are hundreds of situations every day that are strictly speaking illegal, as an example speeding up on slip roads to merge in before that line of trucks on the motorway and you make judgements on the best course of action there, but again in the law that would be wrong and you would have to try to squeeze in between as you are not allowed to exceed the limit etc. It is just pot luck on whether you get caught - in your case unlucky.

Yeah, it was a judgment call and I accept what is coming.
I don't expect to be acussed of racing by fellow forum members though.
So very disrespectful.
