Think I may ha e just got caught.. Windows and doors on the back were shut and I was approaching.
Do the windows or door need to be open to get a reading?
 
Your lucky, I would buy a Lottery ticket tomorrow if I was you :wink:
 
Yes mate the window will be open and you'll see the laser gun thing. Although by that time its usually too late :x
 
It was start of motorway and 40mph area... Car up my arse and then car to the left lane was fast approaching so I sped up to pull in and pow..over limit:thumbsdown:

It was open road in an empty area
 
Sorry but the above comments aren't always true, they can have a little flap that can open which is hard to see and I believe they can also work without doors or windows open anyway. I'm sure your fine but just so you know.
 
haha no 2dogs it wasn't ...unfortunately!

the window was pitch black and glossy looking.
looked to dark for anything to go through it, maybe they had a tiny flap open..but usually the windows drop down or lift up from the ones I've seen
 
yep, got caught 66 in 40 at "a5103 princess parkway, near to the m60 motorway, Manchester (southbound)"

1 mph less and it'd been a fixed penalty but looks like i'll be going to the magistrates to explain some fucking nobhead in a jag was so up my arse I couldn't see the front end of his car and the car in the left lane was fast approaching so I felt I couldn't get across safely without accelerating.

I thought the best thing to do was to accelerate to avoid impact with either car, nothing in front at all....should of just risked him going into the back of me. :thumbsdown:

irony is I had set my cruise control to 40mph and was tooting along until that dickhead shot up behind me
 
Generally speaking, I don't.
I was tooting along then look at rear view and see some penis in a white shirt in a jag right up behind me, the dickhead accelerated when I did, although to a lesser degree.
I was more focused on getting some distance from him then the speed I was going.

could of tapped my brakes and he'd would have been somewhere in my boot.
 
Sounds like you were racing him.
I always slow down if someone comes up fast behind me. Or pull over. Good luck with the court case, but make sure you have a more convincing excuse than this.

Why the f**k would I be racing in a 5 series down a 40mph road, is that the type of things you do? Don't tar me with the same brush.

So what youre saying is your a wreckers driver who slams his brakes on if there's someone whos closer then a car length away?

I was tooting along at 40 with cruise control set when the next time I look in my rear view I've got a middle aged dickhead in a white shirt open collar so close to my bumper if I had slowed down he would of gone into the back of.me and then in the left lane I had a car also gaining speed, I felt the need to get out of the way of the car behind.
Why would I be racing in a huge tank of a car, especially on a road that is policed often?
 
Unfortunately, increasing speed will never be seen by a magistrate as a valid reason, certainly in light of safety as from their high horse they will always list a few dozen other options that they would have recommended which nobody would do, but in theory would be better.

Was this a 40 zone that was 60 a while back?
 
Should've continued at the same speed or slowed down to pull in behind the car in the left lane if you wanted to go left, or should've pulled in earlier.

I wouldn't use the tailgater excuse though
 
There are plenty of 40mph Signs along the road.
I know there is often a mobile unit there because people always speed up going down there as you are entering the motorway...it is the beginning of the motorway.

The guy behind me clearly wanted to speed up and I felt in danger,my immediate reaction was get out of his way.

In hindsight, yeah I should of waited for the speeding car in the left lane to go past for me to then pull in but at the time I felt an urgency to just move out of the way of the speeding car behind me.

tbf it does sound a strange scenario to boot it from 40-70(on the speedo) because someone is tailing you and you want to change lanes. None of us was there and it's difficult to picture. I had a quick peak on google maps and that road is covered in warnings, chevrons, cameras etc. Personally I feel it's bad luck and there's no real mitigation (in a lawful sense). Good luck with the case :)

Yeah I don't expect to get away with it, it was a bit excessive, there was nothing in front of me at all and I can just remember looking out my rear view constantly whilst accelerating to make sure I pulled across safely,I wasn't aware of my speed.


I'll put it down to experience, first time offender.
