Mmm ... insurers

In December 2014, I committed 2 speeding offences and received 3 points for each. I phoned my insurer, AXA, to inform them accordingly.

My insurance renewal is 1 December and I phoned AXA today. I pointed out that the points on my licence expire on 30 December. AXA replied that they have no record of these points.

Now, their quote is £400 higher, with the option to seek a refund at the end of December when the points expire.

Mmmm ...

Yes, you're right, Rob.

However, AXA didn't transfer the information from the Jaguar and the Porsche that I had with them in 2014 - and in which I got the points - to the BMW that I bought in 2016.

Sounds like they’ve mucked up but will try & blame you anyway for not noticing their mistake
I’d argue against that!
Rob

Surely you have to tell them each time you take out a new policy which means you should have told them in 2015 and 2016?

Apparently not. The AXA person today said that (a), when he looked, he could find details of the points and (b) my automatic renewals should have taken account of the information.

Never give your insurer or the DVLA information over the phone. I have leaned the hard way with both.

It only takes one fuckwit to lose your information or not update the system and you are automatically to blame for their mistake... :?

E-mail is the way forward. Print it and post it if you want to be sure.
