Hi eveyone

Newbie here to the Z froum and loving my Z4 she's a star!

Have been think about a exhaust as it could do with a bit more of a roar!! , I did see a remus back box on ebay 425 starting bid, but am pretty sure I could get a shop to make up a custom exhaust cheaper than that and keep the standard tips as I think they suit the car

Has anyone had any experience of custom made s/s systems and also decats?? I was searching on "youtube" and came a across a 2.5 with a system and decats sounded amazing, even better on my 3.0 I reckon :driving: .

If anyone has costs would be ideal and of course would you recommend be interested to hear your views

Thanks Patrick

You could try a Powerflow dealer, as they make exhausts from scratch so can tune it to your requirements, and keep the standard tips.

If you live anywhere near Sheffield I know a place called exhaustsuk.com who can do a custom job. In Dorset there is Top Gear in Bridport, and just south of Glasgow there is a place called Motorsport World who can help.

Where are you based?

Hi Andrew

I am based in Cornwall

I had powerflow do an exhaust years ago! on an old e36 it was fine not to loud either in a good way, but you do hear of bad things re- powerflow??? or some forums.

I would be interested as there would be the obvious weight reduction and should be able to flow better possible performance gains but no really after that just sold a Evo 8 fq330 so not after power any more , not much faster than that on the road.

Cost wise I would assume would be much better as do not see the point in spending 650 on a supersprint or 1200 on some of the other systems for very little gain 3/4 bhp, I will investigate I think I reckon maybe 300-350ish??

Hi,

I looked at longlife, but the guys near me that did them, hadn't any experience on a Z4, and his best deal took lots of haggling.

I was a little nervous about what we would end up with so ended up trying Remus £450 INC VAT and Fitting from Elite Direct in Rainham in Essex.

I looked at others, but couldn't find anything i liked for the price and Remus purpose build it for a Z4, so you know it will sound awesome and more importantly will work, with no hastle factor, as it's already built specifically for the car, none of this tweaking business.

Only thing to think about is if too bling or not, which is personal preference on the tips I guess. You can't change them on the Remus, but to be honest I love mine :)

Steve

p.s. Haywood and Scott do some pretty good work too.

Interesting 450 not to bad, is there some decent sound clips out there??? can they do nothing regarding the rear tips I wonder as I feel I am in the same camp as yourself regarding them "not the end of the world, but could be nicer"

I am going to head over today to a couple of place I know and feedback the results, I did see a great thread reagrding a M converseion but looks lik a lot of work I am to lazy I reckon!

Hi,

I will try and get some clips this weekend for you.

I quite like the tips to be honest, they are dug in quite deep, so not that bad and the holes round the edges look quite funky.

The noise! Yum. Well, you could ring Elite up and indicate that you might be interested, but could they deliver it to you, that might knock off some cost on the exhaust if they dont have to fit it. Probably not as it didnt take too long.

Ask for 'H' and mention me. Another guy from the forum, Beancounter1980, also got his from there, which is how I tracked them down.

They also sell longlife, which i asked about, but their honest opinion was not to bother and go straight for a Remus.

Decent custom shop will make up pretty much anything you want or need. I changed my 3.0i system to a genuine twin pipe and quad exit, twin ///M sport backboxes.

Removed the resonator and created just what I needed from look and sounds perspective. Shop just bent and fitted some nice stainless pipe to make it all work.

No worries, sounds like CJ has some good experience on a made to measure too :)

Hi cj, if you do not mind me asking how much did this set you back??? can pm if perfer, as I have seen some m boxes knocking about

Ah well - not as you'd expect. I won a pair of brand new unused ///M boxes (taken off new and upgraded) for £21 the pair on Ebay, so that set up the project.

After that £300 on custom tubing and all that fitting bit and £350 ish on the carbon diffuser. Did most of the battery box relocate and engineering myself. New battery was around £50.

Cheap considering what I've managed to achieve.

Was actually thinking over the weekend of fitting an exhaust cutout system, but then mrs CJ nudged me for dozing off with a smile on my face....lol
