Mk1 z4 chassis

Odd question. Is the z4 (2004) chassis classed as a monocoque, in particular I’m interested how the screen A pillars are attached. Do they form part of the original chassis

This might answer your question, theres a cad image of the chassis

That’s interesting thanks. Can’t seem to find any reference to the red reinforcing bits on real oem but you can clearly find the body parts. Some more digging is needed I think

Has anyone fitted a full roll cage to a z before.

So it is a monocoque design right? If the front and back subframes were somehow connected, would that make it a seperate chassis job?
Robert.

And if the front and back subframes are not structurally connected to each other then the Zed derives it's ridigity from it's body shell.
Therefore, ipso dipso facto, it must be of a monocoque construction.
Right?

It's definitely of monocoque (U.S = Unibody) construction with a separate rear subframe. A few screenshots from www.realoem.com  20201114_173306.jpg20201114_173334.jpg20201114_174838.jpg

Monocoque and unit-body are often misconstrued. Well a lot of what I’ve read says that.
Thanks for the responses. I’ve got a better idea of what I’m after now.
