Missold a car with Xenons

This exact thing happened with my first Z. It is an easy mistake to make, I didn't know the only sure fire way to tell is the lack of a headlight height adjuster. It's all well and good saying you should have known, but the car was new to us all once... Personally I just dealt with it - got some Osram nightbreaker bulbs and jacked the adjusters on the lights themselves a full turn or so. They're not ace lights, mainly because they're so low, but I drove mine every day for 2.5 years and I'm not dead, so it's all good.

Given the issues I'm having with my xenons on my second Z I think I'd rather have my halogens back sometimes...

Thanks for the replys guys.

I can confirm it was a dealer, however just a general 2nd hand car dealer, not a BMW dealer...however it was a fairly large outfit with some very high end cars on the forecourt.

I wouldnt want to get a full refund on the car and have to give it back and find another, but as them offering that would be slim to non then I dont think I really need to think about that.

I guess the best thing I could get out of the situation would be a token amount as a gesture of goodwill, hopefully enough to either upgrade to some HID lights or even just enough to buy some of those osram bulbs for!

Do HID kits get through the MOT by the way? I do have washer jets in the bumper, I know that because one of the caps hiding them away blew off!! I heard something before im sure about them not creating the correct beam pattern...although that might be just if you shove them in a vauxhall nova!

You're well within your rights to argue for a refund under the Sale of Goods Act, if that's really what you want. With it being a relatively minor feature on the entire car I'm not sure how successful you'd be if you took it to court. I'm not legally qualified though!

Perhaps speaking to them nicely might do the trick; they should know better, it's their business after all. Bad publicity might be a threat you could make. Perhaps sitting down with the owner might get the desired result?

I'm not sure if it's worth the hassle if they say no, just chalk it up to doing more research in future.

I fitted a HID kit for £55, replacement 'bulbs' are £12.50 a pair and I've not needed another set yet. It's not legal and there are many who will say it's completely wrong with the lenses etc. I won't argue that it's not the proper job I'd like to do but...

The beam cut off is sharp and I don't perceive any glare looking at it from the front. I've not been flashed by oncoming vehicles. If I didn't think it was acceptable and safe for road use I'd not have kept them in. I have passed MOT and the beam pattern check with no issues - I do have headlight washers though.
The difference is literally night and day ( :? ) - I'm much more comfortable driving at night with them in as I can actually see! There are some pics on here of them fitted.

no bumper water jets no xenons (and if the level adjuster is there also)

but aye that's s**t, xenons were a must for me as well
