Missing service History

That sounds really odd. The guy is obviously very proud of his car and anal enough to keep all the paperwork in order and to not pass it on sounds strange. Personally, if you know the work has been done and the stamps are in the book I would not worry as the dealerships will have the records to back it up.

It was hilarious. They were moving house and she was allowed to keep her golf but he had to give his car up. He commuted to London every week day by train so it must have been the only joy he had in life!
He went up to discuss it with his wife when I made an offer and he took 35mins to come back down

I would not worry.as you have a full service book stamped up to date I it won't devalue the car when you sell it .

I got the hood done on my e85 along with other warranty work and as I remember I didn't get an invoice.
From memory ( I'm away at the moment on holiday) the invoices have all sorts of stuff on them ie tel numbers addresses and payment details. So it's up to him if he wants to broadcast those details for years to come.
