Missing nut/bolt (suspension?)

Hi Iv'e had my M for about 10 weeks now but just noticed that a nut/bolt is missing from the top of the suspension assembly under the bonnet and the surrounding metal is slightly warped. Does anyone know if the nut/bolt is a big deal, whats it for etc? The car is quite squeaky when driving and I wonder if it is coming from the suspension. Also I should note that the previous owner upgraded to Eibach lowering springs.

Left side (missing nut) - You will also notice that the strut brace mount has cracked on this side. I wonder if there was a blunt force impact that caused both issues.

thats the camber bolt from factory... one side has been removed but i can tell you, you need an alignment.... your one side will be set to factory camber, the missing side you can see the plate has shifted hence why its not perfectly aligned with the whole, infact you can see the bolts have slid over...... the hex unit isnt an issue, but your camber will be different from the other side......

With both those it may suggest the car has hit a kerb at some point.

Oh crap yeah!!! Didn't see that!!! Ouchhhhh!! That part needs to be completely stripped and rewelded..
Actually thiers been definite contact with something as you can see The removed camber bolt has bent the strut top tower on its exit..... I'd check this car thoroughly !! It's had a decent knock at some point by the looks of things....

looking at this further in comparison to my car, i THINK the strut tower has some deformation exactly parralel to the camber bolt hole towards the wing on that side..... this may be an illusion but this looks an odd shape compared to my car......

OP did HPI this car??

Yep HPI check was clear, handles perfectly but definitely want to get it realigned and get that camber bolt replaced. I did mention the crack just above the second photo. I was planning on maybe getting a horizontal strut brace or even one of these tripod ones:

It wouldn't solve the problem of the crack but it would strengthen everything up beyond the OEM setup anyway.

camber bolt is completely not needed, once the three bolts are tightened after alignment its good to go, that bolt is used by the machines during production to set things equally.

i personally would have that bmw piece re-welded..... theirs an actual TIS bulletin for this pice with updated parts....

personally id use a top notch tuner.... i can whole heartedly recommend simpson motorsport... these guys are the best of the best.....
 
You're local to me then. Munich Legends seem to have a mixed reputation. I would suggest you get a price from a dealer as well as when I did contact ML they were only very very slightly cheaper.

We are seriously lacking on Indi's in the south east. :x

If you fancy a trip to Brands Hatch ETA seem to have a good reputation and have been used by a few on here.

I think their mixed reputation comes from when the 'brothers' owned/ran the business.

Some people loved them because they didn't realise they were being screwed, others hated them because they knew they were being screwed, others loved them and knew they weren't being screwed.

The quality of the work/customer service was directly proportional to the mood they were in.

The new owner (of about 2 years) is trying to put that old reputation behind him - but the guys on the M5 Board didn't take kindly to him 'demanding' we remove negative posts about the 'old' Munich Legends.
 
Hmmm interesting, I live not far from Vines Gatwick so I have a few options, ML and James Paul are within half an hour. Honestly in terms of driving I can't notice a thing out of place in terms of tracking/balance so I didn't think it was too big an issue until I posted here. I will definitely have to get it looked at soon though as it is playing on my mind.
 
It won't cost much to get the geo checked all you need is someone with decent equipment like hunter
If its out you can then look for a recommended garage to sort it
Welding can be done by any competent welder you don't need a specialist and judging by how the crack lines up it does not look like much has moved bodywork wise just the suspension strut as it bolts to the body
