Missing hole for Glove box light - Workaround maybe

I recently upgraded the interior lights to LED on my pre-Oct 2004 Z4 (very nice, no more yellow light), but the glove box hole for the light is completely missing. So ... while googling I came across a pic of a light placed at the back of the glove box (not the top in the glove box housing).
If there isn't enough space at the back to fit as shown then maybe it would be possible to fit the light at the side or have it protrude slightly forward from the back and also make sure the wires have enough length and give to move.

Just a thought...

You could probably easily affix some LED strip lights across the back. They're nice and thin and you would get a more even illumination.

Mmm ... yes I do have a couple of leftover rolls (kitchen and stuff). If the fitting a standard light is a pain then I'll probably do as you suggest.
