Missing Headlamp Washer Jet Cover Z4M

Hi,

I've noticed one of the headlamp washer jet covers has gone missing - First I thought someone had nicked it then thought that it could have come off in operation.

I spoke to BMW about this and someone said that other people have also had this problem as they go and order the same part.

Is it most likely that it's been swiped or is it easily possible it has just come off.

They just come off, that is one of the reasons I make sure I never ever use them.

the bracket the the cover clips onto can break and then bye bye cover... if that has happened you need a new washer pump as well and bumper off job to replace :(

hopefully just the cover broke :D

I was quoted an 8 week delivery to get a correctly painted one from Germany though :o Primed was quicker then got a bodyshop to paint it.

I phoned BMW and have asked them to get hold of a cover that is primed but they need to order a can of paint. It works out the same sort of price as ordering one from Germany but I will have a can of paint, the remainder.

The jets work fine, I tested these out, they pop up, spray and go back down so all would appear to be normal - Would you agree?

If it has just come off I suppose that is better then it being swiped......... :D

These covers just clip on? and that is it is it?

£36-xx to get this sorted.

Mine got broke off by a golf ball! New painted cover £30.00 in 2weeks, but also broke the clip on the pump which was only 3 days but cost £50.00. Then 1/2 a day and lots of cursing to fit.

if the top of the washer pump looks like this:

(ignore the red circle on the last one)

then you need a new one...

if there is some more things on top (Sorry no photos) you will be ok...

I'll see if I can get a pic myself

Looking at your pic and comparing it to mine. On the inner part of jet (in between the nodules on left and right) there is nothing that appears to have broken off. In the middle as I call it there is the structure and going from 12 O'clock to six O'clock there are two screw holes surrounded by metal where the cover presumably sits on top of.

sounds like you will be ok then, and the clips on the cover itself broke off. a picture would confirm it of course :D

stick some img tags around it and voila:

If my memory serves there should be some other fitment on top of that pump which the cover clips onto :(

do you have warranty?

Hi there,

OK, you are saying that there is something missing here? - Car is out of warranty now. Two rear coil springs were replaced under warranty. I find it terrible if this is going to cost me especially since the car has been in the workshop on two occasions this year for the coil springs. If need be I'll have chat with the sales person who is very friendly and helpful and will make sure that the fullest price isn't paid, well that would be the plan...... :D

How much would this cost in the UK (GBP) £ BALLPARK

yes there should be a structure located between the two holes you can see...

In my photos there is only one which is why I had to buy a new washer jet. There may be a part which is just the 'structure' but I would not know about that :(

Washer jet I think was about £40 when I did it... just checked though now about £50 + the cover itself etc

fitting would be more unless you do that yourself (I did).

OK,

The fitting is a straightforward job then - The part is added without any complication EG. you don't need to remove bumper.... :D ....the part just bolts on....this is correct isn't it?

replacing the whole pump would require bumper removal :(

if you can get the 'structure' on its own, or a new pump from which you maybe able to take the structure from then you maybe able to avoid taking the bumper off.

Have you tried some breaker's yards etc?
