So this is a great idea. If an inbound plane is going to be crashed into London they can shoot it down. Then it will crash... into... London... Oh..

What shagwit dreamt up this idea?
 
My mate lives in that building. Pretty much all of the residents are sh!tting bricks about it...

im sure the missile system they have planned will blow any aircraft into a million pieces and they will take it out well before it gets near london. more of a show of force in my eyes :evil:
 
Last line of defence, range of about 5 miles. You already have Typhoon jets doing a CAP so little chance of anything flying getting through. As Chris says, its show of force stuff, similar to the missile units deployed on top of the white house after 9-11. Difficult to take pictures of jets flying at high altitude, or warships in the channel, these are good photo opportunities for a sensationalist press. Just my two pence worth....
 
What makes you think they are protecting the general public in London?
Thats to shoot a plane down before it hits Downing Street or Buckingham Palace, If it then lands on the general public, so be it...
 
They're going to shoot down anything that's a threat to the Olympics. That'll be the planes bringing in all the competing teams then
