Just realised , having checked my eBay watched items that I missed out on bidding for a nav cid with minidisc that ended up going for a total bargain of 40 quid. Did anyone here get it?

Also made me wonder what other people had missed out on either by bidding too low, or too late and the item went real cheap........... Come on get your eBay heartache off your chest lol

Yeah I saw that too, that was a steal, was tempted but I don't need it. if you have an intravee that would have been perfect.

I missed out on a ACS rear coupe spoiler the other day, totally gutted :(

Or alternatively you could put the max bid you are prepared to pay in ebay and if you dont win live with the fact you didnt want it enough to pay what it went for.

I used to use sniping tools a lot when I was going after some rare collectibles on ebay but in the end gave up on it as I was just putting the same max bid into the sniper as I would into ebay.

I really hate Ebay auctions lately, items sit there at $0.99 until there is 2 mins left then 50 Bids get dropped in the final seconds - it's more of a blind auction then a real auction these days - just chuck in a bid and hope, no chance to increase your bid.

Also sometimes you think your getting a good deal - then with 2 secs left the item almost hits your max bid, a few days ago i was buying a headlight off ebay.de the item went from 20EUR to 70EUR in the last 5 secs :headbang: , luckily my max bid was 75EUR but it's really irritating.

On a positive note I sold an Iphone 3GS yesterday had it auction or buy it now - with less then a day left not 1 bid, then someone hit the by it now option 8) which pays for my headlight/AE conversion

My experience is that when I snipe I wind up paying less than I do when bidding "properly". I noticed that when bidding, someone would just keep keep prodding my bid up and then walk away. Much less of that happens now but some ebayers view my type as the scum of the earth as they feel if they are the high bidder for 5 days they have a moral right to the item. :fuelfire:

I agree - and the biggest problem with bidding early is that it encourages other people to bid up and fuels auction fever. Far better to snipe. In a real life auction you keep shtum til the bidding goes quiet, then dive in if still in your budget.

There are a variety of tools out there - some need you to be online (but asleep) with when they snipe, others work from an independent server so you just snipe your bid, log off and wait.

Love 'em or hate 'em they work - and as 4havnfun says, it avoids bidders out to just bid things up - often illegal shill bidders working for the seller, and its much harder to spot that these days with the privacy Ebay has given in some areas.

I've used a few - currently with 'myibay Ebay Bid Sniper' which works extremely well. But be careful you get the right one, I've seen occasional questionable clones.
