Misfiring in reverse?

I've had a strange issue for a while where once in a blue moon my e85 will misfire only in reverse? Still runs and reverses fine, but obviously quite rough.

No lights appear on the dash but definitely something up. Has anyone experienced something like this?

It's an auto transmission if relevant

If it was a misfire it would put the engine light on.
Are you confusing it with something else?

Potentially, I'll have a proper look soon but I'm thinking it doesn't happen long enough to trigger the engine light as I'm only ever in reverse for 10 seconds or so

Definitely feels the same sensation as when I had a confirmed misfire though
