My e85 M54B30 ('04) developed what sounds like a misfire, out of the blue. Was having a blast, parked the car, took it out a few hours later and it was notably different. Between 2 and 3.5K rpm it would stutter and lose all power when accelerator firmly pressed. Gentle acceleration and higher revs seem to keep the issue at bay but it would need quite a bit more revs off the lights
Its on 85K kms (53K miles) and i got the car 4 months ago, did oil, filter and spark plugs straight away myself without a torque wrench. Plugs look OK no oil leaks. One other thing i did recently was mid-resonator delete, so a few bits of exhaust cut and pipe welded in 4x places.
Could I have buggered something in the car by overtightening the spark plugs? Can exhaust weld leak cause engine misfire?
Planning to get an OBD tool, scan the codes and then probably attack the coils/sparks but any suggestions are welcome.
Spewing, car is in excellent condition and I'm almost certain its my fault in some way that it's not running well
Thanks in advance!
