mirror glass disaster, advice

Whilst washing the Zed with the Karcher, I blew the drivers side mirror glass off which smashed in two on the driveway. Picked it up and sliced the end of my index finger off (exag:). Looked on the OEM site and cant find a price. The parts dept is closed and I need it replaced for Monday as Im travelling to Manchester at Lunchtime. Questions are: How much is it likely to cost and do you think the dealer will have one in stock and does it just stick on? Its not heated and its a sort of Bronze shade. Cheers in Advance. Now to find the Elastoplasts

I thought all Z4's had heated mirrors
they do, in my case the mirror fell off leaving the heated pad in place. so you could easily just stick a new mirror glass onto the existing pad.

If you go the OEM route they are fairly easy to fit.

tilt the mirror all the way up so you get a big gap at the bottom.

if you look up into the gap you will see a little notch. stick a screw driver in there and slide it right. this unlocks the mirror from the body of the wing mirror.

on the back of the mirror there is essentially this plastic locking ring. it might be a bit tough to slide as there will be crud build up.

I learnt this the other day as some scroat knocked my wing mirror off (OEM replacement = 180 GBP for those interested and the body is plain plastic so respray as well)

The glass fell out of mine recently whilst I was driving, leaving the heating element in place. I ordered a replacement from eBay which is holding up well and only cost £12 inc. P+P. whilst I was waiting on it I had to make do with a generic replacement from Halfords. Didn't look pretty, but it did the job!

Ive just realised that my mirrors are in fact heated, every day is a learning day. I ordered an ebay version today and im taking the Halfords route as a temporary measure. Thanks to all

How do I activate the heated mirrors then? do they come on with the heated rear screen?

This is why I hate pressure washers
mine fell off driving down the road - and no i didn't hit anything. Yes I use pressure washers but never on the mirrors or anything fragile.

oh and the passenger side one fell off in my hand when I decided to check that side when fitting the new one :o
