The passenger mirror glass has been wobbling since we bought the car and then yesterday it fell off. It looks like the previous owner was a bit ham fisted when they replaced the glass and broke the disc that the glass is supposed to fix to. As a result it's only secured by three out of four of the lugs that it locks on to. It looks like the mounting plate is simply screwed onto the front of the positioning motor. Is it possible to replace just the plate or can I only get the whole assembly?

The eBay ones clip on rather than twist locks, but I've been using them for months without issue. Worst case you can stick a bit of double sided foam tape on the back for some extra stability.
It's interesting that you should say that. The previous owner had tried some sticky pads, but when it fell out I noticed that the remains of the plat it's supposed to clip to were left stuck to the back of the mirror and were preventing the locking mechanism from turning so I pulled it off and reattached the mirror and was able to lock it into position on the three remaining lugs. It isn't quite as well fixed as the drivers side but it doesn't wobble anymore so it may be ok as is for now.mjennings23 said:

I'd never use pads on the OEM design, they have a rotating clip that locks on the the mount. I'm talking non-oem replacements that are a push fit, assumedly because it's much cheaper and easier to produce than the twist lock BMW used.
