Mirror base plate cracked...

I collected my new (to me) Z4 on Friday from Sytner Leicester and failed to notice, until today, that the plastic base plate surrounding the passenger side mirror has two hairline cracks radiating out from where the mirror itself meets this plate.

Is this an expensive fix?

Cheers!

Anthony.

I'm having difficulty imagining the damage, but it should be dead cheap to fix - take it back and ask them to replace it...

I'll get a picture of it tomorrow. I doubt they'll sort it - been to work in it since collection, and as it's a very small but constantly packed retail carpark then they'll no doubt point to this as the cause.

Cheap? Sounds promising!

My reference to cheap was indicating it wouldn't cost you anything as they should fix it if it was like that when you bought the car. Why would they have to know the details of where you've taken it anyway ? Unless you think it happened in the car park, in which case honesty would have you buying a part.

You may be able to get whichever bit it is from a breakers like fab direct or quarry motors - if you mean the black triangular plate then you may be lucky tbh. No idea of the cost though. Best thing to do is find the part on realoem.com and give that to the breakers.

+1. Definitely go back to the garage. Yup you talk about a busy car park but unless you broke it yourself or know it got bumped take it back.

I doubt it happened at work as the way I parked meant the passenger side was away from all cars and against a wall.

I've e-mailed the salesman who dealt with the sale - hoping he comes good. If not i'll have to get a price on getting it replaced.

Apart from that the cars amazing, love it!

n1nja-frog - I second what Bing says, there's no need for them to know where the car has been. Take it to them to get it sorted free of charge hopefully.
