My clutch has been bit rubbish over the past couple of months. It feels like it is slipping with a bit of vibration as I let it out. Then it lurches a bit as the clutch did actually connect. I was having to be careful and slow to make smooth progress whilst pulling away. It wasn't making driving any fun at all!! :(

Then all of a sudden, it's absolutely perfect. It engages smoothly, pulling away just feels natural. I don't have to think about it. If I build the revs to 2000, let the clutch out and gun the throttle, it bites perfectly with no slippage or any feel of inertia giving that lovely elastic feel.

So how can this be? What causes these anomalies that make me think my clutch is on the way out? I know there are certain things like temperature and things like that which must effect the clutch but what else could cause the inconsistencies?

Any body else experienced this kind of clutch issue? Cheers
 
Possible you got some fluid on it, perhaps a weep from the slave cylinder or oil from the engine some how. Once it cleared up/burnt off normal driving resumed.

A thought anyway...
 
You may have a bit of crap in there somewhere, worth a bleeding just to know you have new fluid, do the brakes at the same time, i believe they share the same reservoir.

The reservoir is split in two parts, one part for the brakes, one for the clutch.
 
If you have the CD valve fitted that could have been playing up.it could also be the springs in the clutch centre plate loose or broken and have now some how jammed up.if it's ok now I would leave it until the problem reapears.
 
Thanks for all the advice, and if it does happen again I'll get a garage to have a bit of a look! :)
 
Initial symptoms sound dual mass flywheel related to me.

I'd probably go and get it checked as in my experience things tend to 'fix' themselves shortly before exploding...

Oh ok, either way would it be new clutch and flywheel?

Your issues sound identical to mine! Just had clutch and flywheel on my Zed :driving: Mine is on 82K
