Minutes away from joining the ranks...

Thanks! Is there any particular reason why this model is more susceptible to wheel cracks?

Also still keen to hear about Supaguard experiences!

Re the wheels; it's not any particular model, a number are susceptible but IIRC they are 19" rims. Just lightweight rims and crappy roads, I expect.

Re super guard - agree the car has to be prepped properly for it to be of any benefit. As the stuff only costs around £20 the dealers make a lot of profit on this, you would be better off getting a discount on the car price and doing it yourself (or, when the OCD starts to kick in, getting the car detailed). I had it on one of my cars ( as a freebie) but ended up polishing the car shortly afterwards as the paintwork wasn't as good as I wanted.

Tapatalking...

thanks everyone for very comperhensive advice - i've opted out of the Supaguard and will monitor the wheels (given 18" im hoping not as susceptible as 19")

other Qus:

- Will the speakers in this car ("Enhanced Bluetooth") be acting as speakers from my phone and therefore be able to play music??

- Is the stock stubby aerial from BMW any good ? is like £22... am thinking of prepurchasing to fit when i pick her up

The bluetooth audio part relies upon this car having the COMBOX upgrade. If you can get the VIN, run it through the (google 'bmw ru vin') online vin checker and look for COMBOX.

I'd avoid the BMW stubby, its overpriced. Go with a cheap one from Peugeot for example. I got mine from eBay for £9 for my e85 and kept it for my e89.

Correct, the build is too early. TBH you're not missing that much... album artwork and bluetooth audio are the things most people want from it but its not like its something that stops you driving the car. You can buy for less than £10 a bluetooth audio adaptor if you have the USB/AUDIO in on the armrest (which this does by the looks of it).

Hi guys!

Picked up my car yesterday and had a lovely drive down to Surrey from Birmingham... Top down most of the way- surprisingly warm with windows up. More photos to follow!

Very pleased with it, all in all. Interior in fantastic condition, already been swamped with compliments and messages from eager companions!

Couple of issues tho:

1. The exclamation mark warning sign (the service light I assume) came on at the end of our ~150 mile trip. This was a little bit alarming. However when I took her out again, the light didn't come on... Thoughts? Last service was August 2012 but I would expect more from a Sytner dealership.

2. I'm getting a squeaky sound occasionally (but when it starts occurring it occurs regularly). This is the "dreaded roof creak"? Is it pretty common?

Finally my wheel nuts are pretty rusted. These cheap to replace?

Thanks all!

In answer to (1) - the exclamation mark is a master caution and could mean one of a variety of things, from low battery charge, to fuel or even tyre pressure if you have radius monitoring. The fact that is has not returned means that the issue has obviously cleared. You should be able to check time/distance to next service in the info menu.

Wheel nuts - yes they do rust. When I do a clean I always rub WD40 into the exposed wheel nut - this has kept mine rust free and easier to keep clean. Avoid harsh acid based wheel cleaners do not help (please avoid Wonder Wheels!) as they easily strip any protective layers away from the wheel nuts.

I've got the BMW stubby and it works fine.

Like others have said, its about 3 time more expensive than what you can get on eBay but I was in the dealership and for the sake of £14 I wanted it there and then.

thanks a lot guys.

think i'll go for a new set of wheel bolts probably, then keep them clean from here on in.

And yes, i've checked through the menu and she IS due for a service.... a little bit disenchanted with the dealership - should they not have done one? :(

thaaaaaaaaaaaaaanks

also, I'm thinking about buying the below car cover... Seems similar to the Stormforce but a fraction of the price....
