Minimum order quantity for clips and screws from BMW dealer?

Just wondering if anyone has come across this.

I've got a list of odds and sods that i need which includes replacement clips and screws that are either missing or damaged but have been told by my local BMW dealer (italian) that they have to order-in minimum quantities (10 and 25) and they will only sell me the entire lot and not the 1 or 2 that i need! I've tried to reason with them as many of the small items are used on plenty of other cars but they won't budge! :headbang:

So, is this just this useless country/dealer or is it common in the UK too? I find this utterly ridiculous and quite shameful on BMW's part as i've never come across this from any VW dealer before when ordering bits for my long out of production mk2 golf.
 
you can certainly buy just the one from BMW Sytner, as I've done exactly that a good few times this year..

I have no problem obtaining only 1 or 2 screw / clips [as I have just done for my replacement centre console cover] from my local dealer - Cotswold in Cheltenham.

I've never had a problem, even when I wanted obscure small, cheap, items for my E30 M3 - if they didn't have them on the shelf they'd order them in [FOC] from the central store :thumbsup: - so it looks like an Italian issue :thumbsdown:
 
Thanks guys, that confirms what i suspected-useless, greedy dealer :thumbsdown: looks like i'll be ordering from england and getting it sent over. Again.

Its amazing how utterly useless this place is at times, especially for car stuff which you'd think they might be good at! I really miss having such a wealth of specialists and companies like the UK has so think yourself lucky next time you're in halfords!

How are you ordering from GB?

Have you thought of contacting a GB contact to order on your behalf [getting a discount :wink: ] and then shipping them out to you? Just a thought :)
 
I've ordered some contacts in the past and had to order 5 even though I only needed two, but they are pennies.

Also somebody else had to order 12 caps for the air vents so sold 10 off, so it might be getting more common.

My long suffering dad gets roped in to these things, poor bugger! keeps him active in his old age so it's win-win :lol: :wink:

I'm going to draw up a list and see if the uk dealers can do any better. Fingers crossed.

Srhutch-I wouldn't mind if the difference was a few pounds but with the quantities I need versus what I'll have to pay for, it makes a fair difference. Will be a shame if it becomes standard practice but i guess at least there will be plenty to go around when people need them on here!
 
That's where the guy who needed the air vent covers sold them on, as they were £1 a piece or whatever's it was and he only needed 2 but had to buy 12 :thumbsdown:
