mini video camera help

Iam looking for a mini camcorder to put in the car for meets and runs but with a external mic. ( hope that makes sense)

Basically want to run a mic to the back of the car to capture the exhaust note better.
Any one know of of one ?

The Contour Plus has an external mic jack. I have a ContourHP 1080P but no external jack. Wind noise is going to be a big issue with any mic. If you click on my "My Videos" link in my signature you can get an idea of the Contour video quality. I know a few others here have video so perhaps they will have some additional ideas as well.

I'm currently looking at buying a GoPro Hero 2 - primarily for mountain-biking but with an eye of it being a toy that could be hooked up to the car. The Hero 2 is an updated version of the original Hero, with one of the "upgrades" being a 3.5mm external mic input

RRP is £300 but looking around you can get these for approx £230 or so on ebay, within the UK. I'm struggling to justify it as it's still a lot of money for a toy!

I do keep umming and ahhing wether to get one of these it hasn't got the option of the external mic but for the price it does'nt look to bad.

The GoPro is the new hype everywhere here. Never seen it in a car but one guy I know put it on his surfboard and it was amazing.

I've just ordered one of these having seen a review on youtube, no external mic' socket but as a toy for £25, it's less than half the UK retail price.
