Mini Deep Clean

No polishing or waxing has been required. Just wash and dry... The skirts are not treated, so I will get round to waxing them eventually I guess. I really need to get a DI vessel soon though, so that I don't have to even dry the car, otherwise no matter how careful I am I'll get more and more swirls over time.

The only other thing I've done is twice apply some magical Protech slippery stuff - I have no idea what it is as PVR got it for me in NL when he got his porker done and the instructions are literally all Dutch to me. It's wipe on / wipe off, takes maybe 15-20 mins to do the car, and once it's done the paintwork feels exactly as if it's been waxed. The paintwork beads all the time, but this stuff makes it even beadier. But it's not wax :? Must be magic...

Work of the devil mate.

My man bits would be on that block Bing if I tried that!! .........btw you might find there are not many takers for your sandwiches at the next meet!!!

I never share my sandwiches anyway. However that is an old block used for man work in the garage :D

There was a marijuana type smell in my car last night, but I had assumed that was coming from the slammed, blacked out windows 3 series in front of me....

jimmybell, it's a BMC filter, so washable. It's apparently done almost 12k miles now, and the destructions say clean approximately every 15k miles. It was definitely due. I checked it because I've been getting the occasional hesitation at low revs and figured I'd try something easy and quick before starting to panic... And I will drive the car with the original filter today (which is very clean) to see if there's a difference.

Personally, I'd stick with the OEM paper filters, there are too many stories about oiled filters causing MAF issues - I know that the filter manufacturers say this is not the case but I have a strong suspicion that, while the factory prepared filters are probably OK, user-serviced filters may end up with an excess of oil that ends up coating the MAF's hot wire and gets burnt on.

I shall check the MAF when I have the air box open again - I have some cleaner as I used it on my last car. I'll also make sure that the filter as not completely soaked, and that it sits at least over night before I refit it. Thanks for the heads up Perry

Checked the MAF - looks nice and clean. The filter has been sitting for 12hrs plus now, all the oil is absorbed and excess removed, aural pleasuring to be re-fitted today 8)

The cleaning kit cost £20, but to my surprise there's enough left for another clean & recondition, so quite good value.
