MINI Countryman!

But look at BMWs cost of entry to market.....they got paid to do it for gods sake, rather than having to invest the usual millons!

They bought Rover for £800m.

They crosscharged a shitload of 'management effort' to reduce their own tax bill, making Rovers losses look bigger than they really were.

They then sold LR to Ford for £1.8Bn - instant £1Bn profit plus the tax cover mentioned.

They also kept the iconic and extremely valuable 'Mini' brand.

They then sold a whole pile of shite to Phoenix for I know not how much, but its academic really....

The other assets they kept included:

- The Rover brand (this was a condition by Ford to stop Rover producing a 4x4 and branding it as a Rover, thus confusing the marketplace with regard to Land Rover)

- The Triumph brand

- The Riley brand

- The Cowley facility where the Mini is now made

- The Swindon pressings facility

- The Hamms Hall engine plant

I'd say that was blindingly good business for them and means they are making bucketloads of money on the Mini brand.....good on 'em, although it cost the taxpayer a pretty penny, not to mention what those Phoenix arseholes stripped out....

I think it looks ok in the black/white combo, tho not sure how it will look in other colours;or lower specs??

Off to the launch of the Countryman this weekend at local dealer.

Might be an interesting choice for us as we have a small 4x4 runabout and the missus has a MINI Cooper S so we could combine the 2 cars! :P

I love mini's

There's nothing wrong with a crossover vehicle, a lot of companies are going this way because there is a huge demand for it. Especially in foreign markets

I'm a big MINI fan. I'm away so can't get to the launch this weekend but will be down the dealers on Mon to have a look and hopefully a drive :)

I went to look at it with a serious intention to buy.............right up to the point I saw it in the flesh, unfortunately against the rest of the range it looks like the girl that hangs out with the babe, nice enough but ugly, dumpy and frumpy. It's no looker and I won't be taking it home.

Spotted one on the road at the weekend and it reminds me of another car, unfortunately not in a good way - I think it's the headlights and front end:
