Bit of a strange one, but one of my friends has said he’s thinking about a mineral White E89

Any particular issues with this paint finish?

I think it’s just a Pearl finish rather than a frosted finish, but thought I’d ask if any one has one or can shed any light?

Many thanks

It’s a nice metallic finish..so conventional paint with a clear coat lacquer on top..

I think Rob (Smartbears) car is mineral white, if so I am sure he will advise

I had a pearl 3008 in white and no issues with that at all.

Thanks gents, I’ll report back

Looks a lovely colour (in the sun) based on some pictures I’ve found

Think it is probably quite rare as well - why the hell did he not buy your VO one?

He liked the VO in the sun, but felt it was a bit brown if it was overcast... it was a bit of an ‘’all or nothing’’ colour for him

Mineral White is a lovely colour. It isn’t a standard white but a white base coat followed by a Pearl coat over the top which gives it the beautiful fleck and then a lacquered coat.

Strange as I think the latest 3 series orange (not certain if it is sakhir or sunset) looks very brown when its overcast but great when sunny, never thought VO was like that - alway looks more orange than copper.

It does look nice, I liked it in the flesh when we were buying our G20 3 series, nice pearl effect, but in the end went with Mineral Grey.

In certain lights it can look bit brownish... dusk/overcast etc. Really comes to life in bright sunshine, but can look quite different when it’s not bright sunshine.

Well, ir would not put me off - the colour is one of the best on an e89

I had a mineral white 35is. Lovely colour but the consensus in the trade is that its a nightmare for smart repairs on small scratches etc.

Mineral white owner here. Absolutely love the colour. Repairs shouldn't be an issue with a quality bodyshop, but if you're looking for a cheap smart repair then forget it!

Thanks Gents, I’ve reported back.

The car in question is on auto trader at just under £10,500... low spec though, no PDC, IDrive, or cruise, but does have heated seats & steering wheel.

It’s miles from us, not sure if he’s going to view it or not :?
