Mineral white fix...

So I notcited a small mark on my car the other day.. I have no idea how it’s happened other than someone swiping it!.. :(

I’ve been to BMW and they’ve quoted around £220 to have the paint chip fixed. Is this reasonable in anyone’s opinion for the small size of the area needing fixing?

Can anyone recommend a possibly indy alternative in the Midlands please?

Thanks

Kish

If its the tiny paint chip in the photo, I would get a colour match paint stick and dab it on. You could try chips away too.

Clean the area and then apply the touch up paint with a tooth pick (mix the clear in the paint together though).

Thanks for advice both!... I thought £200+ was simply day light robbery!.. I did think about the touch up sticks. I’ve never used one, but I’ll give it a go with the toothpick etc!

Thanks again for help!

Mineral White is a combination of two mixes to give the effect it has, basically a white base coat which would be the first coat followed by a second coat of a different mix to give the effect mineral coat has as apposed to a basic white, followed by a lacquer coat. So the whole process would take longer and the whole corner of the bumper would need painting to blend with the existing colour. Your quote was from BMW so no surprise there.

Wow, a small bumper accident would write off a car with that cost.

£220 is silly. You can get the whole bumper done for £300
In what colour?

Metalics do cost a bit more. Worth asking chips away or similar.

That's a fair price from BMW. Mineral white is actually a four stage paint process from factory. Primer, base coat (additional step), colour coat and then clear. There are also a few different shades of mineral white, so getting a perfect colour match is difficult.

Your best bet is to touch it up and see how it looks. It won't be perfect due to the nature of the factory paint application but definitely give it a go. No harm.
