I met mrs w when we were 15 , moved into our first house at 21 & approx year later mrs w started talking babies :?
being brutally honest we were not exactly on the same wavelength at that point
I do remember saying i really wanted a Nissan Silvia Turbo that i,d seen at our local dealer
Which we did buy but had to sell 12 months later when i found myself lumbered with all manner of pram,s, travel cot,s , changing bags & a play gym that dismantled into a golf bag sized holdall
Ive enjoyed it & am immensely proud but not sure i have the tenacity to do it again , they are a great effort but then the rewards are also there

as parents we have never pushed either of the 2 to perform or be something that they didn,t want , at times i think maybe we should have ? It was more about them being happy & above all to get through each chapter of life especially the most difficult transition of school life to work life which up to now is working out ok . , no future scientist or astronaut but son is doing well as self employed plumber & daughter is part way through her media make up training whilst working in her spare time
Neither are showing any inclination to be independent & leave home but in all honesty they are no trouble & are happy to have them around .
I guess ultimately we are all a reflection of our upbringing so we all have parents to thank in some way so here,s to parenthood whatever stage :cheers:

I feel old now 4 kids 30year old 25year old gone doing there own thing 6 gran kids 21 year old at home still and Sophie at uni for two half years cant retire for two half years

Your sons lucky to be a plumber round us, I qualified in 2008 and didn't manage to find employment when the recession hit. So I ended up working for Protec Fire Detection instead. Would love to try get back out there

Protec is a decent company / at least you have experience in another field now
