Miles remaining light-

As soon as the light comes on I switch to the cruising range and it seems to be about 60 miles (apparently 2.1 gallons / 8 litres) when that gets to ---- you're hitting the reserve which is another 2.1 gallons / 8 litres. But you really don't want to get that low for the sake of the fuel system.
Always has been on my other cars / bike - I know my bosses old Merc was definitely 30+ miles beyond zero. But checking the manual it looks like it may not be extra...
Here it says that when the light comes on there is so much left in the tank:
Under capacities it shows a tank and reserve value:
But, in this section it states that of the 55l, 8l are the reserve:
I'd take it that you have 8l / 60ish miles from when the light comes on and get to a petrol (gas) station ASAP. If you run too low you'll suck up the debris that lurks at the bottom of the tank result in an engine management light on - it actually mentions this in the first snapshot.

If you're getting low I wouldn't risk it, I do know of a number of people who have had their engine management light come on (on various cars) and asked if they've gotten low on fuel, a large percentage say yes! One of the first questions a garage will ask as well. Even if you've done no damage it is still a few £ to get the problem diagnosed and the light turned off. Not worth it for saving a little on fuel IMO.

Call me pedantic but remember ladies that we are not comparing apples with apples here.
The 2.1galls/8 litres thing is what we call a colonial aberration
A US gallon is 0.83267384 of a UK gallon, so on the assumption that the 8 litres is correct, you will only have approx 1.75 UK gallons of fuel left (which does equate to 8 litres). So beware if, like me, you only work in 'old money' as you might run out a bit earlier than you expected if you work on 2.1 LOL
