In 4.5 years and 85K miles with my 3.0si I've habitually gone down to the --- and beyond on virtually every tank (only being conservative when out in the desert where fuel is scarce). In that time I've run out of fuel exactly once - fortunately within a couple of miles of home. In any case I can comfortably go 20 miles past --- every time, but start getting nervous as I approach 30. I typically take 13.5 - 13.8 gallons on fill up and have gone up to 14.3 on rare occasions.
