Might be able to get my hands on a 2007 2.0i, but mileage is about 75k miles (120k km) is it worth looking at? What is the limit for when z4's of this gen become problematic
 
It entirely depends on how it's been maintained.

If it's been looked after, then 300,000 miles may not be an issue. If it hasn't, then 30,000 miles might have ruined it.
 
Might be worth having a read through this post as well. Some good discussion there on the price/mileage/quality relationship.

But as mentioned above, a lot depends on how the previous owners have treated the car of course.
 
My personal view is that the 2.0 is not perhaps the best engine in terms of reliability/ desireability. It may be a good car but post the details of the possible purchase on the forum so members can give you their opinions.
 
Mileage is just a number, at the age these cars are maintenance and condition is far more important. I’d far rather a higher mileage example that’s ignored BMW’s ridiculous long oil change intervals, changed gearbox oil etc than a low mileage car that’s stuck religiously to BMW’s service schedule.
 
By on condition every time. These cars take the miles well, as long as they are maintained properly.

I would agree in principle for the straight sixes, but there are more 4-pots showing issues over 100k: at least, as reported on the forum.
Whether this is an inherent issue, lack of maintenance or simply people thrashing them I don't know.
They have their advocates on here as well.
I have run a couple and the balance is great for back-road driving.

In short, my personal opinion is that for peace of mind at higher mileages, with all other factors being equal, a 6-pot would be a better choice.
