There are some people who only buy for a season with all sports cars so there will be those who will want to keep the miles off for a quick turn around.

I am like that as I do get bored of cars.

Me too however since I retired early ( on a low company pension ) I cannot afford to keep losing money changing cars I run a 220d convertible as well as the z4 not sure how long I can afford to do it before the z4 has to go unfortunately :|

The only thing I would say is that it makes the car less special driving monotonous routes imo

They are 10 plus years old so low mileage cars aren't as numerous and a car that's been driven is less likely to go wrong than a low mileage car that sits in the garage and hammered when it's out.

I don't think you will have to wait 25 years for the Z4 to become a classic.

The E46 will also be viewed as a classic soon, just look at E30s. Even the low spec four door E30s are becoming collector cars.

[post]1386837[/post] Well said sir, which is why I daily my 3.0si, it's fantastic fun and makes the most mundane journeys a hoot. Mileage now at 145k and climbing as I use it 7 days a week, and will continue to do so until I can afford a z4m and another small car/motorbike for the commute.People say oh you're losing money and devaluing it, or you could have something more economical, although it is capable of doing 30mpg on a run (not that I ever see that!) but you only live once, so f**k it! It's a CAR, and I bought it to drive it.

Great news - I hope you are right as I have an E46 as well as the E86!

So you're not using your car on the bet that it'll be worth more in 25 years? As investments go, that's not a great one!

As some one said earlier on this thread, it's a Z4, not a DB5.

From my perspective, mileage will affect price, but that can be mitigated with preventative maintenance and paperwork for everything.

I am the third owner of my E86. First owner put about 30K miles on it. Lots of records.

2nd owner put about 20,000 miles with very thin records. Maybe an oil change or two in the books and one tire change.

Since I bought it July of 2016, I have added 12,000 miles and have service sheets for 3 oil changes, new aux fan, transmission fluid, all brakes and fluid, etc, etc, etc...

When the time comes to sell this little car, the 4th owner will get a War and Peace volume of paperwork. Some preformed by me, some by the indy shop. I am sure the car will have a s**t ton (tonne for you Brits) of mileage added to it as well. But, they will also know that the car was driven by someone who took care of the car exceptionally well.

So drive the car and keep records.
