Midlands Breakfast Club (UK) April 26th

How far do you guys want to drive?

I'll put up an option to challenge and change.

From the meet back to the M54 and East towards Shrewsbury. Circle around it on the Southen ring road (nice fast dual carriageway and islands :)
Head South West A458 to Welshpool on long fast sweeping A road and South A483 to Newtown
Due South over the fast and very challenging A483 to Crossgates :)
Turn East A44 at Crossgates to Penybont and A488 to Knighton and A4113
NE towards Much Wenlock along one of the quiet B roads, then disperse or follow on up to the Telford area/M54

I've driven all these roads and know some of them well and would love to take a Zed on them
About 120 to 130 miles.

Realistically 3 hours drive given we will stop and start.
I'd suggest small groups with a meet at the Crossgates Services at mid point, else something of better quality on route.

If this is in the zone I'll research, else counter propose, truncate, modify, etc.
 
May I suggest a short run out with a stop for pics for us all then split into seperte runs for those going north and those going south as it is a 2 hour run home for the likes of me, senwar, lucy etc. We could then find an interesting run to go up north for the northern ones?

Thanks for posting a comment :thumbsup: My post is meant to stimulate such comment and suggestions like this, else time will mean we run out of time to organise anything and we'll have 20 of us staring at each other for inspiration.
 
I'd be happy to drive out towards Wales, I could head off back up to Liverpool at some point near Welshpool.
 
Right then, there seems to be at least 4 of us from Sheffield area - shall we arrange a meeting point!?

Seen as Lucy is somewhat directionally challenged unless it comes to shops (self admitted might i add)! I suggest the Sainsburys filling station at the Meadowhall roundabout right next to the M1 Viaduct - provides us easy access for last minute fuel, air, water and food/drink. It should take just under 2 hours from here (accounting for the crappy 50mph M1 Works speed limits) So lets get some names...

The rough quickest route for anyone potentially wishing to join is:
M1 South to Jct 28 (Alfreton/Mansfield)
A38 to Lichfield
M6 Toll Westbound
A460
M54 Westbound
Exit Jct 3, (A41 South) and were there!

If anyones bothered, ill make a nice drivers route for the way back through the peak district :)
 
Sheffield lot route home idea... I know for a fact the 2nd half is amazing :D A little unsure about the first bit though so any input duly appreciated! :thumbsup:

Your route passes within yards of my house at Shenstone, where you would join the M6T
Can I suggest that you avoid the M6T as it will cost you £4.50 for the 3 junctions you use.
Just as easy to stay on the A5 all the way as it's mainly dual, with just one section of 4 cameras in a mile. Stay on the new bypass at Churchbridge and turn left onto the A460 and follow to Junction 1of the M54
5 minutes longer tops and pays for brekkie!!

I can meet up with you guys if you wish, subject to time, etc.

Going back a nice route is East of Lichfield then A515 via Ashbourne right back to Bakewell area

Lol yep i'll be getting up at 5.30am, will set my alarm but you can send me a text aswell just incase :lol:

Your 6.45 prompt departure works well as realistically you need to be in my vicinity at 7.50/8.00 latest (and I reckon you'll do that run in 1 hour) to get us there for 8.30.

You'll be pleased to know there are no static cameras from the point you leave the M1 all down the A38 until you reach the end of it. After Burton where the A38 splits a common mobile van site is in the centre of the road as the lanes split. You have a mile of 'Get in Lane' signs to warn you.
 
we will all need to be careful on the speed traps with a show like this I imagine the police will be out in force!

I'd echo that and would expect the M54 to be laden with marked and unmarked cars 20 miles each way all morning. For the police it will be happy days chasing down exotica Vs the usual hum drum.
 
There: ~1:45 I'd say driving at normal leisurely speeds
Back: Approx 2:15 tourist dependant! :oops: Theres also a nice pub at half distance is anyone fancies a quick Coca Cola :D

Should be fine!
