Please excuse a non participant butting in but if you hang a right at Carmarthen on to the A48 and head towards Brynamman you can head back towards the A40 on the A4069. What a road, probably worth a couple of goes. Look it up on the tube. :D :driving: :D

Thnx for the suggestion…as we get closer I’ll firm up the routes

Take care if you are driving spiritedly. The A4069 has for years been 40 mph limit along its entirety, and patrols are frequent.

Thanks guys..I was hoping mid wales would be quieter, with less speed cameras and patrols than North Wales…may have to stick to promulgated speed limits….sob… :tumbleweed:

Mid Wales is indeed much quieter than the north and south - but the Black Mountain Pass is firmly in the south (Brecon Beacons). Still worth it though even at 40 mph.

Hello….welcome..I can add you to the list.. :driving:

Will you require accommodation for any nights?

We’ve used our allowances so if so you will need to book direct.

I've been hatching a plan, I'm thinking maybe I can drive to me you at your Saturday morning starting point, stay the night at a hotel or similar Saturday night and then cruise with you on the Sunday. Would that be possible?

Sure you’re welcome …the route has been re-cast taking into account various suggestions and help from folks who know the area….

We will be leaving Tewkesbury around 9 am on Saturday and as you know we will be in Aberystwyth on the Saturday night..

Then vice versa..

Okay, so I'll check back through this thread and see where you staying in Aber ( maybe I can still get a room ) and alternatively book a room close by. If your route back on the Sunday is down the A40 to Llandeilo you'd all be welcome to a coffee n home made cake stop ( the wife does a cracking apples cider cake and lemon drizzle cake) ........and if the route to that point hasn't taken you though a water ford.....we can accommodate that as well ( cameras at the ready!!!) ......we have plenty of parking for everyone

Due to my recovery period from my recent eye operation looking like it will be extended it’s been agreed that Bushy who is attending this run will manage and run this event from now on.

Thanks for him volunteering to take the lead.

Please liaise with him on all matters…

A new route for us, exploring mid wales over 2 days.

Two full days of a mixture of pottering and some more open roads. A draft route is shown, but will be worked on further, any comments on roads to avoid /include welcome.

Based out of the Premier Inn at Tewkesbury on the Friday and Sunday nights, and the Premier inn at Aberystwyth on the Saturday night.

We’ve booked 4 rooms for the Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights at £88, £134 and £51 respectively.

We will arrange a Saturday evening meal in Aberystwyth.

These are allocated on a first come, first served basis, however if you are not sure that you can commit please put yourself down as ‘interested’ rather than ‘definite’

Depending on numbers, anyone past the 4 room limit can book direct.

For logistics reasons this is restricted to 12 cars maximum.

Hotel prices and availability are much more challenging in 2023, and with folk’s budgets constrained, if you want to book cheaper / alternative accommodation please feel free.

Some good roads round there,if not fast some of them,as mentioned :driving:
