Mid Life Crisis

Yep ... 56 here, and I don't give a hoot what anyone else thinks because I'm enjoying the heck out of my Z4. It's really the car I've always wanted (even before it existed). Not too mild mannered, yet not an over-the-top screaming track machine. Just right for my current location on the arc of life.

I have noticed that other 56 year olds are insanely jealous.

If your in your late forties or fifties and above and own a z4, your a cliche. Sorry but its true.

Thats NOT to say thats a bad thing. Just a stereotype that people under a certain age WILL think of you. But thats their problem not yours and really it doesnt matter.

Ive asked other people what they think of the Z4 and a lot have said its either a MLC car or the kind of car jumped up young tw*ts drive that like wearing pink Ralph Lauren polo shirts with their 'collar popped'. Honestly i know what they mean, but again it DOESNT MATTER.

The older UK people here probably own a Z4 for the same reason younger owners like me do - it makes those dreary days just that little bit better and the rare times the suns shining it makes them really nice.
In our congested depressing road network ANYTHING to ease the monotiny of ANOTHER trip to tescos is worth its weight in gold.

Christ on a bike. I've been called some things in my time but never a cliche.

I do, however, confess to parking mine in the underground car park at our local Waitrose.

Pink polo shirts, collar popped, Robbie Williams on the stereo, roof down, summers evening.
Yes feel a bit conspicuous as being perceived as slightly camp, but then I get a 2nd gear straight six roar and put everything back in its place.
Who cares!

I guess a mid life crisis is more of getting your feedom back. The regular married, 2 kids example, you have to spend a big chunk of your kids growing up time having to compromise on what you want to do. Kids get older, move out, bang, you don't have to conform any more! The crisis should really be called "midlife catchup"!!

Collars popped..................................nooooooooo, put them down NOW.Whenever I see a bloke with a popped collar, I think "arrogant twat" :D .When I played rugby, if a member of the opposition came onto the pitch with his collar turned up, he'd be the 1st to get "the treatment" to put him back in his box so to speak. I'm racing very quickly toward my 50th, and I've had my Z for 3.5 years.I bought it cos after a lifetime of ( frequently crap) company cars, I decided to for the 1st time in my life have a car I actually wanted, also with my daughter leaving home, it was the 1st time I could afford to buy and run a sports car.No mid life crisis, just the only time I've been able to do it.I'd have done it years ago if i'd had the cash.
