And the classic hairdressers car is the Merc SLK! (Or the SL Gay as some may call it) Not me of course.tiglon said:The reality is that if you drive a sports car a lot of people will think you're a tosser, and if it's convertible a lot of people will think you're a poser. The irony is that if the car makes people think you're a tw@t, and you enjoy it anyway, then you probably are the opposite of a poser.
These days a poser's car is a Range Rover or big Audi/BMW/Merc SUV.

It's always with that undertone of have you got nothing better to do or bit sad always messing with your car. Reality is I don't even wash it that often probably compared to some, maybe once a month or when it's really dirty. I do the odd bit of maintenance though more often.
Strange really, I don't walk past, glance at them and go, 'oh doing gardening *AGAIN*?' or pop in their house and say 'oh watching Netflix *AGAIN*?' like I would care what they do with their time. Always polite about it of course and make a joke out of it, think some people find car's as a hobby a strange thing for some reason.
You cannot generalise like that. Generalise like this, everybody is a Poser and we like people to look at us and we think that they are thinking, look at that intelligent, handsome person driving that superb sports car. I wish I was him/her.tiglon said:These days a poser's car is a Range Rover or big Audi/BMW/Merc SUV.

Nothing wrong with being a poser... but let's be honest, the only reason for buying a massive premium brand SUV is to tell everyone you have lots of money. Take the coupe version of a Mercedes GLE for example - what does it do better than an E class estate other than satisfy the innate desire to show everyone else you're bigger and better than them?
You can make a case for a convertible and/or sports car having an intrinsic enjoyment factor that isn't just showing off - can anyone do the same for a BMW X6?
For me I enjoy a convertible sports car most on a deserted mountain path - no one to see me, no one to pose for, no one to impress, just enjoying the car. Conversely, the X6 is in it's element getting one up on the other mum's at the school gate.
Nothing wrong with that at all, I'd happily own and drive a X5 or X6, but it is what it is. Let's not pretend it's anything different.
