Microswitch issues

I have microswitch issues I did try to fix but the wire was broken leaving limited wire to solder , I have ordered a new microswitch which is similar but not exactly the same as what I have, I have searched everywhere for the exact same part. Old switch has different coloured wires to the new , switch , so I won’t know which to wire up , any ideas what I should do?

Where is the microswitch from? What year E89 do you have?
Where did you order the new switches from?
The pictures look like they have been 'bodged' before TBH.

The bottom pictures look like the correct microswitches to me.

2014 the top switches where already in the car they have snapped twice since i got the car two years ago, to be fair its been a year since i last had to fix it this time round its on the rim of the connection which you can see in the top pic, i have ordered the switch from lllparts

If you have repaired twice in 2 years, and they have snapped again, then you are doing something wrong.

Have a good look at repair videos & see if you can refine your technique - they should not be failing so fast!

it was the same switch but it wasnt strapped in the second time round with the cable ties it will be when i do it

TBH I don't understand why you are repairing microswitches. They are £16 each, new, from BMW!
Also don't get the 'strapping down with cable ties' thing. They should be screwed in position, tightly, surely?

Which switches are they? On the roof, or the bootlid?

Bootlid left hand side
Change both. The other side will go tomorrow, otherwise!
Seriously, it is worth changing them both while you are at it, as the other one could go at any time. Probably THE most common fault on an E89 is bootlid microswitches.

There are many threads on here on how to change them. They are easy enough to do but if you don't do the right things it can go horribly wrong (generally with marking the nuts on the boot lid brackets before taking them off).
You will need a couple of small machine screws, M2 IIRC (and some threadlock) for each one if they have been cable tied before.
