Microshell jacket bargain

Having spent some time looking for a softshell for driving in winter with roof down, I think I found a bargain this week.

£17 from Costco in either black, blue or red, a real bargain vs the Northface & Jack Wolfskin ones I was looking at for £100+

Sure, there is no external branding, but I'm in the car not a fashion show & fits just as well as the premium brands.

Also not the humiliation I felt in Northface Carnaby St when the sales chap talked to me about all the great benefits of the jacket, asking me what I was going to use it for. His face of shame when I answered that it was to keep my neck and arms warm when driving with the roof down is something that will haunt me for years :P
 
Your first mistake was stepping into the NF shop :roll: they/ve gone up there own arse since becoming a fashion label
There are many others out there offering better products for far less

I think I prefer the JW to be honest, but not enough to spend the cash....the cheaper ones had arms only a gibbon could wear, so I was in the £150 territory which was daft to stop me getting a chill when climbing the north face of eiger....(driving in the M4!)

Edit....Freud there, driving on the M4 not in one :oops:
 
Bought one last year.
They are excellent quality and at that price unbelievable value.
See they are doing the micro gillet's for a similar price. Pity I couldn't find a small :(

ha, yes the cheap-ish watch thread - the wheels began to fall off that one when the discussion turned to £600 & £800 service costs on Rolex's :wink:

I got one of these from Mountain Warehouse in a recent sale they had on. Use it mostly for mountain biking when it rains so didn't fancy spending the silly money on the premium brands. Was £27 IIRC and a bit of a bargain as reduced down from £75!
 
Perhaps I could iron on some North Farce emblems :evil:

Surprised they are not too warm for cycling in Simon, although I am yet to try wearing it outdoors so can't really tell :P

Hadn's spotted the gillets, will keep an eye out for those.

Took me an age of rummaging to find a small jacket, either hugely popular and all of the small ones sold out, or Costco know most of their shoppers are, shall we say, of the larger variety :P So many L & XL ones there, along with most of their clothes to be fair. Spotted some DeWalt trousers in there last week, but they seem to only be available in the most ridiculous leg length given a 32" waist.

It does get a little warm at times, though mostly i use it when it is very cold out and don't fancy bulking up on layers. This time of year its still shorts and t-shirts :thumbsup:
 
I'm evidently far too much of a fair weather cyclist, if I can't wear shorts & t, then it's too cold to be cycling!

I actually didn't stop wearing shorts through my commute last winter... Once you warm up it's fine :D
