Microphone upgrade

I thought our microphones were on top of the steering wheel - not up on top of the mirror.

Any speaker in a covertible is pretty much useless, as far as my experiences in this area are concerned. I have gone through MANY blue tooth devices, demanding best quality sound and think I found it! Jabra M5390. Folks say I look like I am directing traffice, well maybe I am, but at least they can hear what I say and I can hear them, even with the TOP DOWN, which mine always is. IT RAINED LIKE CRAZY HERE LAST NIGHT! Top was down and ROADCAR was resting in the garage, after a little run in the rain, top up! Today I can only wash because paint is still so new.

This would replace the one on the column...if you would have clicked a few things on you would have gotten to that explanation.

So if I am reading the links correctly this really only applies to BMWs manufactured before late 2004.

Well I did not actually upgrade but when I installed the bluetooth in the Zed using the Bimmernav kit a few months back I specified the upgrade microphone that fits on top of the column instead of the earlier Zed OEM mike and location, that's up with the mirror.

Works pretty damn well, but I can't tell you if it's better than in the mirror or the old style.

The wiring for the 2 is slightly different and I had to convert the loom to work correctly with it.

My microphone is on the steering column, not over the rearview mirror (my 325 had a slot there for it and hubby's X5 has it located there). Is there any way to tell which model is installed in my 2007 coupe?

According to the links in the online catalog the older style microphone was standard until late 2004. That certainly suggests that your coupe (and mine) are already using the newer model......
