Microphone cable?

Has anyone hooked the existing steering column mounted mike to an aftermarket head unit. If so, where do I find the wire/plug if one exists?
 
If installed, the mic wires will run through the loom to a plug on the phone-prep box in the boot mounted on the rear bulkhead, likely down the LHS of the vehicle. It's a bit of a pain to access. I imagine it would be easier and more effective to fit a modern aftermarket item in or near the current location. I believe others have fitted the bluespeak mic there
 
I did exactly that with the Bluespeak. The dongle on the CD cables in the boot behind the bulkead, and then the microphone cable through the bottom of the cubby holes (mine didn't have a CD changer) and the cable tucked under the edge of the tunnel cover and into the dashboard void. The microphone then stuck behind the steering wheel next to the original one. All dead easy. The only thing I found was that I had to use an extension on the microphone cable as it is not long enough. I taped the plug and socket together at the join to avoid them pulling apart with vibration etc.
