micro switch help

hi guys just removed drivers seat and found a mircoswitch by the seat jammed in between seat and center tunnel any ideas where it could come from its no 7 in this pic http://bmwfans.info/parts/catalog/E85/Roadster/Europe/Z4_2.5i-M54/RHD/N/2003/april/browse/vehicle_electrical_system/various_switches/
 
do you mean the center cubby hole were cd changer is as that seems to work ok, i have got a airbag light on would it have come off the seat anywhere
 
just had another look is there a micro switch where the soft top closes when its opened sounds irish i know

You could be right gannet as the light will be on if this is not in place.

OP, with the cubby hole door open what happens if you activate the switch?


Also where about's is this wire, in front or behind the seats?
 
i've checked the light and that microswitch is in place and working i have taken out drivers side cubby hole behind the seat if you put your hand in and towards the top there is a connection there thats looks like it should have something on it, can't remember if there is a alarm micro switch on the center console door somewhere
 
thanks for your ideas i have given up for now,everything works as it should the alarm doesn't keep going off , only thing i have is airbag light on this was on when in brought it and getting looked at on wednesday when the roof is coming out to replace the motor
 
It looks identical to the micro switch that lives in the boot, operated by the luggage shelf thingy. In fact, I have a spare and it looks exactly like the one in your pic........but why in the car??

If you're not sure where it is, look in the boot behind where the centre storage bit is, head in the boot and look upward. There's a small black concave moulding, the switch is at the lower left side.
 
if it is the one for the roof, it would explain why your roof isn't working, which I'm assuming it doesn't the fact you having the motor replaced.
 
the one for the roof is there the roof will release at the front spring back but you have to help it to open,it shuts ok i had a look at the drain plugs first day i had it and they were blocked and when i shone a torch down the passenger side i could see water,but to make matters worse is someone has tried to repair without a clue what they are doing hence why i think the center console has been taken out and i'm pretty sure the seat has been removed without disconnecting the battery hence why the airbag light is on, just wished people would leave things alone if they don't know or research it,hence why i got the car for £5000 03 2.5 72,000 miles heated leather seats,xenons,107 alloys,pdc,cd changer,wind deflector,m suspension. full bmw service history,12 months mot,6 months tax.The parts for the roof cost £350 from bmminiparts and me and a mechanic friend are going to have a go at it tomorrow with the help of shipkillers guide
