Michelin or Bridgestone tyres ??

Neither for me. Bridgestone are woeful and my Michelin PSS have degraded badly with cracks all over them, never had such issues with Pirelli where ill be returning to if not trying a new brand entirely. Hardly use the Z at the moment for fear of a blowout. Tread is 5mm and tyres are at proper pressure, they're not even 3 years old. Michelin tell me they shouldn't be used in winter as they're summer tyres and they will crack and fail in winter. Never had that said or happen with any other summer tyres. Lots of money down the pan.

That sounds terrible, not fit for purpose even :thumbsdown:
How bad are the cracks? Can you see the cords through the cracks or is it more of a cosmetic thing?
I think I'd be contacting trading standards if it failed an mot because of them.

mine was like this, once new tyres where fitted i did have car fully aligned

See I'd be pretty worried about those cracks. Mine have cracked on the shoulders, I'll get a pic if I get chance.

I would as well. I think around 3 or 4 year mark for warranty? My Bridgestone fronts are slightly cracked, due to age, sunlight, whatever else. Rears are newer, they're holding up fine. No cracks at all, not even hairline. If mine were cracked and I felt they weren't superficial I'd get them changed ASAP. I'd also be on the phone to get replacements... Fair bit of cash to just throw down the pan. Especially as its not your fault.

tbh i dont know how long the bridgestones had been on car, but they was cracking too which probably made it easier

before that id only ever had 2 in 12 years.

Never had a Michelin show signs of cracking and there usually on car 3 years+ before need changing

I know it doesn't tell you when they were put on the car, but the 4 digit number on the side wall will tell you when they were manufactured
First 2 numbers are the week in the year they were made
Second 2 numbers are the year
so 1211 = 12th week of 2011

I also found Bridgestones to be awful (although well worn when I bought the car). Swapped for Pirelli P Zeros and they were great

I checked mine the other day, you won't believe the date I've got stamped on my fronts!
