Without intending to be a doom-sayer, I wouldn't read too much into that - he may be out of the coma state but there's no indication as to his level of consciousness.
One thing to remember is that saying he's out of the coma doesn't actually mean very much as, depending on the amount of brain damage, people can come out of a coma and still be in a vegetative state. They may be able to open their eyes, appear awake, and recover basic functions (breathing unaided etc.) but still be unaware and unresponsive to their surroundings due to the having lost a large amount of brain function
All the medical opinion I've seen says that, after a coma lasting several months, a full recovery is very unlikely. In truth, the only people who will have any idea of how much of a recovery he's likely to make will be his doctors and they'll, no doubt, be hedging their bets by giving best-case and worst-case scenarios.
