MHD Question

Hey, All. I’m out testing new settings. Away from the home computer. I can’t seem to find this answer. In MHD, what is Adjust Throttle Lag? It’s set at 0%, original. It goes up 100%, No Lag. What does it do? In daft terms?

Otherwise, on fook me thrice news, the Thor WiFi adapter died in the middle of a xHP download. The module didn’t finish, I have no transmission. The first tow lorry couldn’t do it. Second one on their way. Anyone need bad luck? It seems I have in surplus.

The throttle response flash option lets you choose how much of the original throttle delay you keep.

There's a filter build into the software that smooths out throttle movements, like a damper. You can remove this completely by setting it to 0% in the flash options. I think that chart above is just out of date.

You obviously have more understanding recovery services than we do over here!

For starts, I don’t volunteer the underlying reasons for the problem. And they get paid per journey and mileage, so they don’t care about the details either.

Throttle filtering is done in MHD.

It's not really a delay as such, just a damper. There isn't much harm in removing it, you can just set the slider to 0% in MHD then see if you like how it feels. The reason BMW implement such a damper is to smooth out unintended pedal movements from bumpy roads.
There is also some pedal filtering done in the TCU which can be removed with xHP in a custom map but this only relates to shift behaviour as the throttle and pedal are under control of the DME.

Waiting for new Thor WiFi adapter to arrive and to reset tranny. It’s my 3rd adapter. I’ve bought 3 this time to have spares. POS.

I’ll play with the throttle damper when the adapter arrives. Richard, thanks again for the help. I’m still using your xHP map. Presumably you removed any filtering there.

Best to cancel the Thor adapter and get either a Bimmergeeks cable or an MHD wifi adapter. I've seen a few people have issues with Thor.

I've made quite a few changes to the xHP tune over the last few months so I can send you an update once you get sorted.

Thanks, Richard. I cannot remember why I went with Thor vs MHD. But IIRC, I went with a WiFi adapter vs cable because there wasn’t then a cable option for the iPhone. Is there a cable for the iPhone that works with MHD and xHP?

I don't think iPhone is capable of using USB accessories so your stuck with wifi. The MHD adapter is very good though.
