MHD and XHP Opinions

Hi, I'm looking for owners opinions with either or both the MHD tuning and/or XHP DCT gearbox flash tuning please. What if any modifications you have done before or after applying the tune too.

I use both. MHD is a must for anyone with the N54 engine and would be cheap even at twice the price. I'm indifferent about xHP, it's good and it does make the gearbox a bit faster but it's a lot of money (£360 all in) for the marginal improvement.

My advice would be to get MHD first then spend money on a larger intercooler and some catless downpipes. If after you've done that and you feel there's room for improvement in the shifts then get xHP. It does let you disable the creep function of the gearbox so it behaves more like a real sequential and you can tweak the shiftpoints more to your liking.

Thank you,

Uk supplied catless downpipes are proving hard to find, I'm not ready for any just yet as I'd like to do things in stages but I also like to plan a head and know budgets.

I have both as well. I had found the stock shifting map super lazy. The Subaru Impreza shifts just as fast. A forum friend made a bespoke xHP mapping for me. Echoing Richard, indeed expensive. But I thought it was worth it. The same forum friend also helped with a bespoke MHD map. FYI, my 35is is stock. I cannot yet tell the difference between stock and bespoke maps, even when I'm asking for above-normal power. But then, I don't drive like a madman on the streets. (I have track vehicles for that urge.) So I think I need more seat time. And I'm having an annoying problem: with the MHD bespoke map, the car slightly lunges/thrusts at 60mph every few seconds with a neutral throttle. Then without MHD, everything is normal. So I'm tempted to buy the MHD OTS Maps Pack and install Stage 1 to see what happens.

I'm very happy with the car, it's fun, but definitely needed upgrades. Stock wasn't cutting it.
